The Mausoleum of the Nanyue King was located under Elephant Hill on Jiefang North Road, which is the mausoleum of Zhao Mo, the second ruler of Nanyue at the early western Han Dynasty. Zhao Mo is the grandson of Zhao Tuo, who was described as the “literary emperor”. His rule began in 137 BC and ended in 122 BC.

The unearthed cultural relics of the mausoleum are of great value to the study of the land development, production, culture, trade, architecture during the Qin-Han Period and the history of Nanyue. The unearthed mausoleum of Zhao Mo is deemed as one of the five major archaeological discoveries in modern China.
